Our code of conduct has been compiled with input from all components of the Cedar School community. It does attempt to cover all aspects of learner conduct and provide learners adequate opportunities to correct behavior.

In brief the code of conduct spells out the minimum standards of behavior to be expected concerning:

  • The primary purposes of the learner at the school
  • The conduct of learners towards others
  • The responsibility of learners concerning school and private property
  • Learner membership organizations at school
  • General conduct of learners concerning: dress code
  • Absenteeism
  • Theft
  • Substance abuse
  • Foul play
  • Tolerance performance

It also details what learners can expect in the event of an infringement of the code of conduct.

An aspect such as the disciplinary process which follows the due process is a cornerstone of our code of conduct.

In the process of correcting behavior, learners can expect verbal and written reprimands, productive counseling, penalties, detention, suspension from school related activities and community service.

Where the above corrective measures do not serve their purpose or where a learner is guilty of a serious offence, suspensions and expulsions can be expected which takes place in consultation with and with the approval of the Western Cape Educational Department and the Education Minister.
